South Oxfordshire Conservatives

Thame votes blue

At the Thame North District by-election held yesterday, the Conservatives held their seat with an increased majority, despite a reduced turnout.

Newly elected Councillor, Mike Welply, said he was delighted with the result, and would work hard for all the people of Thame to ensure the town gets the best deal possible. The campaign particularly focussed on the redevelopment of the cattle market and ensuring that Thame remains a thriving centre for the local economy.

The bitterly cold weather and the half-term holiday meant that turnout was very low, but Cllr Welply still managed to increase the Conservative majority by nearly 100 votes. This gives the Conservatives the upper hand in Thame as all parties look towards next year's local elections.
