A
written parliamentary question to the Department of Health from
Thame’s MP, John Howell, has confirmed that
Thame
Community
Hospital
is to receive £4 million from the community hospitals and
services programme central fund. John Howell asked the
question following his visit to the hospital on 17 October.
He said:
“The hospital is a much loved and much valued part of the town
and it’s not difficult to see why. It’s not just the
excellent services it provides – it’s the warmth and
professionalism of the staff, the loyalty of its friends and the
welcoming atmosphere.
“I wanted the Government to end the uncertainty over the funding
for the re-development of the hospital and make an official
announcement. The Government has now done so.
“I’m really pleased for the hospital and the town; the new
hospital will offer local people better access to a wide range
of local services and diagnostics, in high quality, up to date,
facilities.”
In his response to John Howell, Government Minister Ben Bradshaw
confirmed that the Department of Health had authorised a
contribution from the community hospitals and services programme
central fund of £4 million for the redevelopment of Thame
Community and that the local NHS would be progressing the
scheme.
The money will be made available to spend in accordance with the
local NHS’s business case.
