Abingdon Conservatives

Launch of Abingdon School Zones Campaign

This week Conservatives in Abingdon have launched a campaign to consult parents and residents on the introductions of 20mph zones around schools in Abingdon. County Councillors Mike and Marilyn Badcock and Conservative Campaigners Peter Jones and Sandy Lovatt joined forces with Parliamentary Candidate Nicola Blackwood to canvass the views of local people.

Research by the Department of Transport shows that the introduction of 20mph limit can reduce accidents involving children by 67%. Oxfordshire County Council already takes child safety very seriously and has a successful Safer Ways to School scheme.

All this week, Conservative campaigners are handing out consultation leaflets near schools in Abingdon, asking parents to give their views on this proposal for safer roads.

Parents and residents can either fill in one of the forms or send in their views on the local campaign website at: www.oxfordshireconservatives.com/abingdonschoolzones.
