Conservative County Councillor Patrick Greene (Moreton
Division) has spoken of his delight at securing new road
safety measures on the A 4130 at Hadden Hill. He has been
pressing for safety measures on this road for some years.
The road
has an accident rating double that of the national average;
there have been 2 fatal, 2 serious and 24 personal injury
accidents reported in the last 4 years. There have also
been many unreported accidents where the police and
ambulance service have not been involved.
As a result
of today’s decision by the County Council there will be a 40
mph speed limit over a length of approximately 1.5km
starting at the Tesco, Didcot, roundabout and continuing
just beyond the Long Wittenham cross roads.
Speaking at
the Council’s Transport Decisions meeting on 3 January Cllr
Greene said:
“I am
delighted that we have been able to agree a package of road
safety measures for the A 4130 and I look forward to the
accident rate coming down. I am grateful to the Cabinet
Member for Transport Cllr Ian Hudspeth, and officers for
supporting my request for a new speed limit which should be
in place by April 2008.”
